Terms of use

These terms apply when you use Combat Words (combatwords.com), run by Robert Finger Software. By creating an account or playing, you agree to them. If you don't agree, please don't use the site.

Your account

• You must be at least 13 years old. Combat Words is not directed at children.
• Give a real email address, and keep your password to yourself. You're responsible for what happens on your account.
• New accounts must verify their email address before they can log in.
• Your username is shown to other players and on the leaderboard. Choose one you're comfortable sharing.

Playing fairly

• No cheating: don't use tools, scripts or other people's help to see words or guesses you shouldn't, and don't interfere with the game or the site.
• No harassment, hate or offensive usernames. Play in the spirit of the game.
• Don't try to overload the service, avoid the limits on games and messages, or access accounts that aren't yours.
• One game at a time, and the time limits on games apply to everyone.

Moderation

We may suspend, ban or delete accounts, block usernames, or end games that break these terms or harm other players or the service. If you think a decision was wrong, use "Request a review" on the login page, or the feedback form, and we'll take another look.

Advertising and Plus

Free accounts and visitors may see advertising, including ads served by Google AdSense (see the privacy policy). Plus membership removes ads and lets you host games.

Plus is a subscription that renews automatically each billing period until you cancel. The price is shown on the Plus page before you pay. Payment is taken by Stripe; we never see or store your card details. You can cancel at any time from the Plus page ("Manage or cancel my subscription"). Cancelling stops future charges and Plus stays on until the end of the period you've already paid for. Amounts already paid are not refunded, except where the law requires it. If a payment fails, Plus may be switched off until it goes through.

Availability and changes

Combat Words is provided as is, with no promise that it will always be available or free of errors. Games, stats and leaderboards may be reset, changed or removed, and features may change or end. We may update these terms; using the site after a change means you accept it.

Liability

To the extent the law allows, Robert Finger Software isn't liable for losses that come from using, or being unable to use, Combat Words. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under the law that can't be waived.
